Here are a few of the awards that Cecil Murphey or his books have received:

The Lifetime Achievement Award – In July 2007, Cec was recognized by the AWSA (Advanced Writers and Speakers Association) for his excellent writing and for his selfless mentoring in the Christian writing community.

Retailers Choice AwardTouchdown Alexander (with Seattle Seahawks MVP Shaun Alexander) won the Retailers Choice Award at ICRS in July 2007.

Author of the Year Award – Cec is a three-time winner of this award from the Dixie Council of Authors and Journalists, which recognizes outstanding books by writers in the southeastern United States.

Blackboard Book of the Year AwardI Choose to Stay (with Salome Thomas-EL) was selected to receive the 2005 Blackboard Book of the Year Award for nonfiction. This award is hosted by African American booksellers and is presented to outstanding books and publishers.

Silver Angel Award (2005) – This award was received from Excellence in Media for Cec’s book Committed but Flawed. The Silver Angel Award recognizes people who publish or perform in media, and who have successfully contributed to the advancement of quality of life. They do that without using violence, profanity, and sexual content to reach their audience.

Silver Angel Award (2004) – This award was received from Excellence in Media for I Choose to Stay. The book will be adapted for a Disney movie called The Mighty Bishops. Cec’s collaborator, Salome Thomas-EL, won the David P. Richardson Jr. Nation Builder Award, given by the National Black Caucus of State Legislators in Pennsylvania.

Gold Medallion Award – Cec was a three-time finalist and the 1995 winner of the Evangelical Press Association’s Gold Medallion Award. This award recognizes the highest quality in Christian books.
