More than 30 years ago when Cecil Murphey sensed God wanted him to write, he made a double commitment (1) to never stop learning and (2) to help other writers in any way he could. Every day since then Cec has prayed that double commitment because he wants it to remain a significant part of his daily living. Over the years, Cec has changed the way he asks, but here is how he currently prays: “God, help me to improve so that I can use my improvement to help others improve.”
Cec Murphey is a teacher. For years, he has taught in various writers' conferences. Because he wanted to do more in-depth work, in 2004, he began his own mentoring clinics. After he stopped doing the mentoring clinics, he started a blog for writers so he could help even more people. Many of the writers remind Cec of himself when he first began. He learned from others and now he wants to pass on what he’s learned. Cec has taught at hundreds of conferences across the nation and overseas.
Cec shares their enthusiasm and especially loves to see writers grow and develop. It's a thrill for him to see new writers get their work published for the first time. “When I teach, I feel as if I am God's visible hands reaching out to encourage, enrich, and educate others.” |
